Amsterdammers adore running. Visit any park in the city and that much is obvious. It’s also no secret that the majority of runners take inspiration from music while they workout, with earphones planted firmly in place as they run.
The Rock and Run acknowledges this love of music and separates itself from other city runs by hosting live music acts and other entertainment along its city race course. Naturally, it’s serious about running too. You can participate in race distances of 6, 12 and 18 km that cater for youths, amateurs and serious athletes. But from its mass musical warm-ups, to the mid-race live performances, and then onto the boisterous closing concert on Noordermarkt, there’s no escaping the Rock and Run ethos.
