This restaurant opened its doors in 1990 and has been popular ever since. It is a wonderful café in a huge building with beautiful high ceilings. De Jaren is situated in the middle of Amsterdam: the finest spot in town.
During the summer de Jaren has one of the best terraces of Amsterdam, it even has two floors. The service could be better, but the atmosphere is wonderful. A lot of youngsters, trendy locals and people who enjoy life behind a nice glass of wine!
When we entered the venue, we first had a glass of wine at the bar. The bar was very crowded but that doesn’t realy matter here because of the enormous space you have. We were lucky to have a table outside, next to the water, which is a really nice place to sit.
The menu is quite small and not very creative, which was a bit of a disappointment. We made our choice and the food was served within 10 minutes. To my opinion this is a bit too quick.
Bottom line I have to say that the food could be better, but the atmosphere and the location were really fantatstic.
