All day shopping? The Kalverstraat is the place to be!
This shopping street is one of the most famous streets of Amsterdam, where almost all the major stores can be found.
The Kalverstraat starts at the Dam square and goes all the way to Muntplein. If you turn right at Heiligeweg, you’ll find some more brand shops like Diesel, Replay and Puma.
I personally don’t enjoy shopping here because it’s crowded, especially during the weekend. My tip is to avoid the Kalverstraat on Saturday and Sunday but you can go on a Tuesday or Wednesday morning when there is hardly anyone. So you can look around and try out some new things without ten people in line for the dressing rooms.
In this street you will find several shops of the store like H&M, Zara, Nike store, Footlocker or Vero Moda. If you cant’t find a sweater in your size, just walk a few meters further and most likely you will find your size in another retail store. That’s a little downside of the Kalverstraat, for example they have four H&M’s, three Foot Lockers. A plus about the Kalverstraat is, if you have the time you can compare your new items at different stores for the best price to get some more at other stores.
Besides fashion shops you can also find several gifts & souvenir shops. But also book and music stores, beauty & health shops can be found. Between the shops you will find several cafés to rest your feet and have a shopping break. For a bite or a drink and fuel up for some more shopping.
Even though it is not my favorite shopping street, it makes life a bit easier to have everything in one place! And if you’re already in Amsterdam you just step in for a minutes to get your impression of this shopping street.
